A Day of Trophy Muskies: Fish #3

You always dream about catching multiple big muskies in one day. On some waters that is achievable on any day while most of the waters I fish that is a little tougher to do. This is one of the reasons why we love fishing lake of the woods, the chance at big muskies. The first day of our recent trip will be one to remember, 3 big muskies. Jeremy and I were each able to catch a nice musky earlier in the day and we were hoping Spencer could catch one too.

After an action packed day of fishing we hit up one more spot we like on the way back to the resort. The sun had set and we were down to a little remaining light as we slowly motored into our favorite side of the complex. Jeremy and I had started casting to the "spot on the spot" while Spencer took his first cast behind us.

A few cranks into his first cast of the last spot, he yells he is hooked up. Since I was in the middle I got my bait in, handed the rod to Jeremy, and grabbed the net. The musky was head thrashing towards the boat and everything seemed as if it would go smoothly, anyone who musky fishes knows this is rarely the case. As I went to scoop this musky into the net it turned around and started swimming towards the back of the boat. I somehow was able to keep the fish in the net as I tried to keep up with it moving to the back of the boat. I yelled to Spencer to help push it back into the net and after a few seconds of chaos we were able to secure it.

This big fish capped a three fish day and the best part that each of us was able to start the trip off with a nice musky.
