Musky Showdown! Long Figure 8 Ends up With a Royal Orba Strike

In the world of musky fishing, each adventure brings its own set of challenges and heart-stopping moments. In late July, I found myself in the midst of an unforgettable experience when a musky took me on a 50-second figure 8 dance before striking a royal orba. What made this encounter even more special was the invaluable coaching provided by my friends Spencer and Jeremy.

For about a minute, the musky weaved and circled, testing both my angling skills and the endurance as this was one of the longest figure 8s I have been apart of. We thought a couple times that the musky was just making this a mere spectacle. With a sudden burst of energy, the musky finally lunged on one of the outside corners, the bait disappeared, the rod bent, and the excitement among us grew as I brought the fish around the front of the boat where Spencer was waiting on the other side with the net where he effortlessly scooped it up.
